The Australian Humanitarian Partnership (AHP) facilitates rapid and efficient responses to humanitarian crises including disasters and conflict. This is achieved through:
The Australian Government’s ability to distribute funds rapidly;
The humanitarian expertise, reach, operational capabilities and international networks of partner NGOs; and
A competitive selection process, including a robust peer review process between NGOs.
The AHP is a global mechanism and, to date, has facilitated emergency responses in Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia and the Pacific. Through the AHP, responses to protracted crises are also facilitated. In these cases, aid can be allocated as part of multi-year assistance packages, allowing NGOs to deliver long-term assistance to affected populations.
